Pastor Keion Henderson is on a mission to show people how to better love one another. Through his new book “Lazy Love:  Recognizing and Reversing the 4 Threats to any Successful Relationship,” Henderson hopes to help readers have successful relationships with friends, family, romantic partners and co-workers by understanding how the Bible defines love.
Lazy love isn’t defined by a singular school of thought. Henderson believes people can be lazy with their love when they give love while expecting something in return, take others for granted, make assumptions or forget to show affection.

For example, Henderson recently sat down with Laterras R. Whitfield on the Dear Future Wifey podcast where he spoke about his new book and provided insight on how trauma impacts love and relationships.

During their sit down, he mentioned Proverbs 13:4: “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing.” He encouraged listeners to not be like the sluggard and be addicted to the thing that impedes their movement and slows them down.
Henderson believes people can be addicted to the thing that slows them down from a traumatic event and that can hinder them from being open to giving love and receiving love from others.
“When you are addicted to trauma, you try to find a way to get what you need through a route that has the little amount of a pain associated with it,” he said on the podcast “The problem is, is that you create a defense mechanism that keeps unable to receive love from people who [aren’t] trying to hurt you.”

In his book, Henderson combs through the four kinds of love mentioned in the Bible: eros or attraction, phileo or friendship, storge or familial and agape or spiritual love. He shows readers how each of these philosophies shape their lives. He also challenges them to examine the unhealthy practices in their own lives that lead to broken relationships and repair them in order to have successful partnerships with others.
“Lazy Love” was released in earlier this month. You can grab it wherever books are sold.
