The beloved video game franchise “Backyard Sports,” cherished by fans since the ’90s, is making a return under the rejuvenating vision of Playground Productions.
This exciting revival promises to rekindle fond memories while introducing the classic games to a new generation that needs to know about it!
Chris Waters, chief product officer at Playground Productions, said in a statement:
“We’re incredibly excited to reintroduce Backyard Sports to a new generation of players, We’re taking great care to preserve the look and feel that made the original games so special while updating them with modern features and gameplay that today’s audience expects. I can’t wait for fans to see what we’re building on the Playground.”
Playground Productions has ambitious plans for the “Backyard Sports” franchise, envisioning its expansion across multiple verticals, including video games, merchandise, film, and television.
For many, the nostalgic appeal of “Backyard Sports” lies in its memorable characters, with none more iconic than Pablo Sanchez. Known affectionately as “The Secret Weapon”.

Playground Productions did not confirm to Sports Illustrated if they will work with professional sports leagues to feature their athletes in the games, but additional announcements are expected to roll out in the near future.
