On Thursday, I toured The Walter E. Washington Convention Center art collection by Events DC for the first time. I learned that the Walter E. Washington Convention Center has one of the largest art collections outside of a museum in the District with 137 works by 93 artists.
The collection features a mix of local, national and international artists represents the highlights communities in the District of Columbia in particular the Shaw neighborhood which is where the Convention center is placed in. Another fact I learned is that the collection is comprised of about 50% local DC-area artists.
The tour is open to the public, but you are required to register in advance. You can so do so by following this link: https://eventsdc.com/news/events-dc-host-four-free-public-art-tours.
