Although hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, he issued a statement on Instagram declaring his support of the #MeToo movement—an international campaign against sexual harassment and assault.
In his post, Simmons wrote, “Listening intently to the dialogue around the #MeToo movement has inspired me to look beyond my personal scenario.” He continued to deny all the accusations that he participated in nonconsensual sex. Simmons then went on to liken the movement to a revolution that would help his “daughters see a better world.” The entrepreneur has two daughters Ming Lee,18, and Aoki Lee, 15, from his past marriage with model Kimora Lee.
Simmons said he has gotten “blood on his shoulders” but believes that in the end, he will be fine and the world would be better off if governed by women.

The $5 million rape lawsuit filed by aspiring documentary filmmaker Jennifer Jarosik against Simmons was dismissed in April.
