COURTESY LISTE

The Liste art fair in Basel has announced that Peter Bläuer, its founder and longtime director, will retire. Over the past 23 years, Bläuer built Liste into one of the premier fairs for emerging artists and galleries. He will now become vice president of the fair’s board.

For its upcoming edition, which opens on June 11, Liste will now be handed over to a nonprofit foundation as it seeks Bläuer’s replacement. (A release announcing the news did not name which foundation or specify details regarding the changeover.)

In a release that included the job posting, the fair wrote, “Under the new organizing institution and director, Basel as the site for the fair will be strengthened and new models for the promotion of young galleries and artists will be developed in order to continue to enhance Liste.”
