According to TMZ, celebrities have contributed tons of money to a GoFundMe account started to reward the 29-year-old. The page was started by journalist Yashar Ali, who became inspired after Shaw not only saved many potential victims but also then launched a page to raise thousands of dollars for them.
Ali writes, “According to news reports, James has a four-year-old daughter. Perhaps this money can be used for her college fund or some other education-related expense. But I’d be just as happy if James used some of this money to take his family on a nice vacation.” Within the first 15 hours of Ali’s campaign, nearly $75,000 has been raised for Shaw.
I just donated and it feels good! Good to help someone who stood up and did the right thing, thank you James Shaw Jr! And I love everyone who is donating too! https://t.co/lkCXKUChXe
