Happy #J5 to the members of Kappa Alpha Psi!

Since January 5, 1911, the men of Kappa Alpha Psi have celebrated its motto of “achievement” dating back to its founders, Elder Watson Diggs’, Dr. Ezra D. Alexander, Dr. Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Atty. Henry Tourner Asher, Dr. Marcus Peter Blakemore, Paul Waymond Caine, George Wesley Edmonds, Dr. Guy Levis Grant, Edward Giles Irvin, and Sgt. John Milton Lee. The fraternity’s founders wanted to increase the ambition of Black youth and encourage them to achieve more than was otherwise expected or imagined.

As the 2nd oldest existing collegiate historically Black Greek Letter Fraternity and the 1stintercollegiate Fraternity incorporated as a national body, the fraternity continues to embody their founder’s mission with 125,000 members and 700 undergraduate and alumni chapters in the United States and abroad. Some notable members holding it down for the culture include Marc Lamont Hill, the late John Singleton and Colin Kaepernick to name a few.

Happy Founders Day!
