Among BLACK ENTERPRISE‘s 300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America, marketing veteran Jacqueline D. Woods has been named chief marketing officer of Nielsen Global Connect, which delivers data and tools to consumer packaged goods producers and retailers for innovation and growth. Assuming the role on Dec. 1, Woods will join the executive leadership team, overseeing all aspects of global marketing and helping the firm’s transition into an independent publicly-traded company.
Woods joins Nielsen Global Connect after serving as chief marketing officer for the IBM Partner Ecosystem, which, according to her website, was “responsible for driving marketing and communications efforts for its channel business, with a focus on growing business partner revenue and driving momentum in IBM Cloud and AI technologies.” Her stewardship was responsible for “modernizing the digital marketing experience through execution and enablement of IBM’s 100,000-plus partner ecosystem” and as a result, producing more than $13 billion in annual revenues. Moreover, Woods’ utilization of client-centric data and analytics boosted return on investment by roughly 40%.
She joins the company weeks after parent Nielsen Holdings plc, which posted 2018 annual revenues of $6.5 billion, announced finalizing its strategic review and planned spin-off of its Global Connect unit, which will now result in two separate publicly traded entities. The other company is Nielsen Global Media.
“I am humbled and excited to join the team as we begin the next chapter of Nielsen Global Connect’s brand story. I look forward to working with Nielsen’s talented team to help shape a smarter market for the rapidly evolving world of global commerce,” she said in a released statement.
“Jacqueline is a marketing powerhouse in the technology sector whose background and experience will help our company accelerate our tech transformation,” Pat Dodd, Global Connect’s chief commercial officer to whom Woods will report, said in a released statement. “We are inspired by her proven success at IBM, Oracle, GE, Verizon and other Fortune 500 companies, and we are looking forward to modernizing our marketing approach under Jacqueline’s guidance.”
It appears that they have selected the right marketing honcho. Prior to serving as marketing chief of IBM’s Partner Ecosystem, Woods, a graduate of the University of California, Davis and an M.B.A. and Merit Fellow from University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, oversaw marketing and communications, products and services development and strategy for IBM Global Financing.
In addition to being named one of BE‘s Most Powerful Executives in 2017, she could also be found on BE‘s Most Powerful Women in Corporate America in 2019.
