The No. 1 Clemson Tigers returning to Syracuse, the scene of the defending College Football Playoff National Champions’ last regular season loss, highlights ESPN’s week 3 college football schedule. The slate also features the 100th meeting of Pittsburgh and No. 13 Penn State in the ESPN CFB150 Showcase Game, multiple top teams including No. 3 Georgia, No. 8 Auburn and No. 9 Florida, and 12 ranked teams overall.
ABC’s Saturday Night Football: Clemson’s 19-Game Regular Season Win Streak on the Line
Clemson comes into their 2019 road opener on a 19-game regular season winning streak, with the Tigers’ last regular season loss coming October 13, 2017, at the same site as this year’s game – against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. The ABC Saturday Night Football Presented by Wells Fargo matchup (7:30 p.m. ET) is the Orange’s second home appearance on the signature franchise, but first from the Carrier Dome.
Sean McDonough will call the game, as the Syracuse alum will be honored with the university’s Arents Award on Friday, Sept. 13. McDonough will team with Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor, who typically call SNF.
Pittsburgh at No. 13 Penn State Begins the Day on ABC; Chris Fowler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe from Beaver Stadium
Chris Fowler will be in Happy Valley, calling the 100th all-time meeting between Pittsburgh and No. 13 Penn State on ABC (noon) and teaming up in the booth with Todd Blackledge, the former Penn State national championship winning-quarterback. Holly Rowe will complete the broadcast trio. The Nittany Lions hold the all-time advantage, with a record of 52-43-4 against their in-state rivals, including winning the last two matchups (2017, 2018).
In the afternoon on ABC, No. 24 USC is at BYU (3:30 p.m.), the third all-time meeting between the two schools. The Trojans have won both previous matchups, in 2003 and 2004. Dave Pasch, Greg McElroy and Tom Luginbill will be at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.
No. 17 UCF Hosting Stanford, No. 9 Florida at Kentucky Among ESPN’s Saturday Slate; No. 20 Washington State vs. Houston on Friday
ESPN will air No. 17 UCF hosting Stanford (3:30 p.m.), leading into No. 9 Florida at Kentucky (7 p.m.). Mark Jones, Dusty Dvoracek and Olivia Dekker will be in Orlando, Fla., with Steve Levy, Brian Griese, Todd McShay and Molly McGrath in Lexington, Ky. Kansas State at Mississippi State (noon) starts off the tripleheader for ESPN. Bob Wischusen, Dan Orlovsky and Allison Williams will be in Starkville, Miss.
Leading into Saturday, ESPN will televise No. 20 Washington State vs. Houston in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff from NRG Stadium in Houston on Friday, Sept. 13 (9:15 p.m.). Dave Flemming, Louis Riddick and Paul Carcaterra will be on the call.
