In about a week African Americans will descend upon the nation’s capital for an epic week of Black excellence, politics, agendas and celebrations at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conference (ALC). From Sept. 11-15 this year’s CBCF ALC will hold panels, productions and parties all under the theme “400 Years: Our Legacy Our Possibilities…”
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is building up excitement and momentum surrounding its Annual Legislative Conference, including a countdown clock on the CBCF ALC ’19 website.
The event kicks off with its opening press conference on the 11th at 11 a.m. at the Washington Convention Center. The first evening ends with annual events such as the Sojourner Truth Legacy Project Town Hall and the CBC Spouses 23rd Annual Celebration of Leadership in Fine Arts will be held at Sidney Harmon Hall at the Shakespeare Theatre Company at 610 F. Street N.W.
On Sept. 12, the CBC Spouses Community Breakfast and Health Fair will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church (1500 9th Street N.W.) from 7:30- 10:30 a.m. In addition, there will be the always powerful National Town Hall Meeting that will include national leaders, congressman and activists from 9:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Convention Center. In addition the annual exhibit hall will open on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. That evening will also be the Gospel Extravaganza and Sojourner Truth Women’s Leadership Reception at the National Museum of Women (1250 New York Avenue N.W).
Friday the 13th looks to be a full day of policy sessions from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Registrants can also attend the Emerging Leaders Town Hall from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The exhibit showcase will be going all day until 7 p.m. and later that evening people can hit the Legacy Reception and special events.
Saturday morning is always the day of the annual Prayer Breakfast from 7:30 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. The exhibit showcase is from 8:00 a.m. – 1p.m. and there are policy sessions from 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. The evening of the 14th is dedicated to the annual Phoenix Awards Dinner at the Washington Convention Center.
From 10:40 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. on Sunday is the annual Donald M. Payne Fellowship Cruise.
