LeBron ‘King’ James is expanding his business ventures once again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Los Angeles Lakers star is setting up shop in his old stomping grounds in Miami—where he previously donned a Miami Heat jersey and won two NBA championships before returning home to win one in Cleveland. With the help of his business partners, the NBA star is opening an Unknwn retail concept store during Art Basel Miami in December, complete with a photo studio, art installations, and a space to hold sporting events.
Unknwn is a trendy men’s boutique that sells authentic, curated assortments of covetable sneakers, modern streetwear, and designer apparel. It was co-founded several years ago by James and his childhood friends, Jaron Kanfer and Frankie Walker Jr. They opened their first retail location at the Aventura Mall in Miami, back in 2011. The retail company sells designer gear, fancy sneakers, collectible items, and contemporary ready-to-wear merchandise.
The new 10,000 square-foot establishment will be located at 261 N.W. 26th St., which places it directly across the street from Wynwood Walls, an outdoor gallery of authentic street art, graffiti, and murals. The retail flagship store is being designed by New York Sunshine and it revolves around art, fashion, sports, and music and will also serve as a venue for sporting and lifestyle events for the Miami community and its visitors. To celebrate its upcoming opening, Unknwn will relaunch its e-commerce website as well as the smartphone app.
In the meantime, James is currently filming the sequel to Space Jam. He will then prepare to suit up for the upcoming NBA season as he continues his quest for another championship.
