Pensacola, Florida, known for its sandy white beaches and family-friendly vacation fun, was a perfect backdrop for the 2018-2019
Top 10 EBONY HBCU Campus Queens’ one-of-a kind photo shoot. VisitPensacola.com hosted the royal event.
Historic Fort Pickens – Gulf Islands National Seashore was the location for the first series of photos. According to VisitPensacola.com, “Fort Pickens is one of four military forts designed to protect Pensacola in the 1800s. …The Fort Pickens area is anchored by the historic landmark and offers many recreational activities including fishing both from the shore and the pier, exploring trails and the fort, birdwatching, camping and so much more.”
The next shoot location was beautiful Johnson Beach, which, VisitPensacola.com says, “is well-known for the Discovery Nature Trail, a raised boardwalk that is roughly half a mile that takes visitors through dunes, pine trees and salt marsh outlooks.” The best part? The beach’s beautiful blue ocean waves.
No visit to our host city would have been complete without a meal at
Five Sisters Blues Cafe, where the EBONY HBCU Campus Queens feasted on a scrumptious Southern buffet dinner that included
fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, cornbread and much more. The restaurant, located in the historic Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood, is described by VisitPensacola.com as “steeped in black history and home to what many consider Pensacola’s best burger and fried chicken, as well as a bustling music scene.”
The Queens truly represented grace and poise during their visit to Pensacola and repped their school pride, too. Tune in to EBONY.com this fall when we welcome the 2019-2020 class of EBONY HBCU Campus Queens!
