Jacquees attend the Soul Train Awards 2018 presented by BET, at the Orleans Arena on November 17th 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada – USA

“Bed” singer Jacquees was feeling himself last night when he proclaimed himself to be the “King of R&B.” While the singer certainly has impressive pipes, fans and fellow artists alike immediately challenged the crooner, including fellow vocalists Tyrese, J. Holiday, Tank and more.

“I just want to let everybody know that I’m the king of R&B right now, for this generation,” said the Cash Money artist. “I understand who done came and who done did that and that, but now it’s my turn. Jacquees, the king.”

“Sweet Lady” singer Tyrese took exception with the statement, saying Chris Brown and Trey Songz are the only “young kings” who could even compete for the title. He also told Jacquees to “stop trolling,” and “get back in the booth.”

Tyrese’s fellow TGT member, Tank, also shared his thoughts, calling R. Kelly the true “king” of the genre.

“First, R.Kelly is the king of R&B. The accusations don’t disqualify what he’s accomplished. Second, if you can’t go in the studio by yourself and make a hit record, you’re not my king. If you can’t sing it better live, you’re not my king. I appreciate all the talent out there, but we are using the word “king” too loosely.”

J. Holiday shared his picks, saying the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, still reigns supreme, with R. Kelly coming in second. Singer/ Songwriter Eric Bellinger simply aimed his camera at Usher, who sat quietly with a smirk while the two laughed over the debate.

Who do you believe is the true king of R&B?
