For the second time in a month, a Prince George’s County high school teacher faces charges of allegedly having improper sexual contact with a female student at the school.  Meanwhile, the investigation into a dead fetus found at a local restaurant continues.

Bowie H.S. Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault

K Sean Donovan Jr., a  teacher at Bowie High School, has been charged with abuse of a minor, third degree sex offense and related charges.

The Prince George’s County Police Department started an investigation when the student reported to a family member that she and Donovan were having a relationship. The investigation revealed that Donovan and the student had allegedly engaged in sexual contact on school grounds on numerous occasions starting last May, according to the Department’s report. Their most recent encounter is supposed to have taken place in late November.

Donovan was immediately placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.  To this point there is no evidence that the 29-year-old science teacher from Upper Marlboro has been involved with any other underage relationships.  The school issued a standard form letter to its community when Donovan was charged.

“Mr. Donovan is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. We will cooperate fully with law enforcement in its investigation. Any behavior that brings harm to a student will not be tolerated in any way. This is disheartening news for the Bowie community. I understand that students, staff and families will experience a wide range of emotions. I want to assure you that Prince George’s County Public Schools is committed to ensuring a quality education in a safe environment for all students. A substitute teacher will provide support to Mr. Donovan’s classes until further notice.”

A similar notice was sent to the Bladensburg High School community  in October when a volleyball coach and business education teacher was charged with similar crimes.  Thomas Barber, 29, was charged with sexually abusing a student twice in a one-month span.  However, Barber was immediately terminated once he was arrested.  That investigation was also initiated when the alleged victim notified a family member about the inappropriate sexual encounter.

Dead Fetus Found at Largo Eatery

A restaurant employee discovered a deceased fetus at about 10:30 a.m. inside the bathroom of a restaurant located on Lottsford Court, near Landover Road, police said.   In a local media report a spokesman said the investigation into the dead fetus was “fluid” because they couldn’t establish whether the remains were, “miscarriage, stillbirth or death after birth situation.”

There have been conflicting reports regarding who made the discovery.  Initial reports stated that an employee made the discovery around 10:30 am on Nov. 28.  According to police reports, someone inside the bathroom saw the fetus. They remain concerned for the mother’s health and reportedly feel she could still be in need of “serious” medical assistance.

“We don’t know if it’s an employee or a patron of the restaurant,”  Prince George’s County Cpl. Lamar Robinson told Fox-5 News in D.C. “As you can see, this is a very fluid situation and our investigators are talking to everybody, viewing surveillance videos, cameras and everything all the like to try and determine when this happened, how it happened and who the mother is.”
