Veteran NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy is joining ESPN as an NBA analyst for the 2018-19 season. “Stan Van Gundy will enhance our NBA coverage with the tremendous depth of knowledge he’s attained during his storied coaching career,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN executive vice president and executive editor, production. “He is intelligent, candid and deeply passionate about the sport of basketball. We’re excited for Stan to get started.”
Van Gundy most recently served as head coach and president of basketball operating for the Detroit Pistons (through the 2017-18 NBA season). He previously coached the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. Van Gundy led the 2009 Orlando Magic to an Eastern Conference Championship and NBA Finals appearance.
