A seasonal UPS worker will not be able to spend his holiday money after deciding to steal from an unsuspecting customer.
Emmanuel Lamont Reggin Jr., 18, was arrested by Miami-Dade police on Tuesday after being accused of stealing packages after dropping them off. According to WSVN, Reggin, who assisted the full-time driver at various locations, helped unload 5,500 packages at a local business on Monday. Surveillance footage showed Reggin grabbing several packages from the truck and hiding them under dumpsters while his co-worker was not looking.

WSVN reported that Reggin clocked out and went back to pick up the boxes, which contained two Kindles, an iPad and a Surface Pro tablet. After attempting to repeat the process again, the business owner noticed packages behind the dumpster and discovered what happened on the previous day on surveillance cameras.
According to Fox 10, Reggin was taken into custody Tuesday evening after he attempted to flee the scene after seeing police and UPS investigators at the facility where he stashed the boxes and police were able to locate the missing items at his home.
“At 18, you got a chance to work, and then you go and allegedly do something pretty stupid stealing the packages,” Judge Mindy Glazer said during Reggin’s first court appearance on Wednesday. “I don’t know if that’s the path in life you want to take, but I would think not. I would think you would want to stay out of trouble, get a good job and have a nice life. Good luck to you, sir.”

UPS has since released a statement on Reggin’s arrest that read in part, “UPS is working with law enforcement, and the person in question is no longer employed by the company. We’ll defer further comment to the responding authorities.”
According to WSVN, the 18-year-old is being charged with a third-degree grand theft, which is a felony.
