As the Magic City prepares for Art Basel Miami Beach 2018, which opened to invited guests earlier today, here’s a look around some of the surrounding events that make up Miami Art Week, including the openings of the Untitled Art fair and the exhibition “Pop Minimalism,” a collaboration between Gagosian gallery and Jeffrey Deitch; a reception at the Rubell Family Collection; a preview of the Berkowitz Contemporary Foundation; and a look at Paula Crown’s public installation in the form of a red Solo cup, as well as parties at the Edition and Wynwood Walls.

Paula Crown’s public installation JOKESTER 2—a larger-than-life version of a red Solo cup meant to address cycles of consumption and pollution—in the Miami Design District. For every photo shared on Instagram during the week of Art Basel, PAHC / studio•lab will work with the Miami chapter of the Surfrider Foundation to clean one pound of plastic waste off Miami’s beaches as part of its “Rise Above Plastics” campaign.
