Auction Season 

A contemporary art sale at Christie’s in New York last night raked in $357.6 million. It was led by David Hockney’s record-smashing Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures), which sold to an anonymous buyer for $90.3 million. [ARTnews]

Also in New York last night, Phillips’s 20th-century and contemporary art sale brought in $88.5 million, with a $22.6 million Joan Miró leading the sale. [ARTnews]
