Takako Nagasawa, who most recently served as a head of private sales at Sotheby’s, will join Phillips as senior vice president and international specialist for 20th-century and contemporary art. Nagasawa has previously worked as a director for Sotheby’s Japan and as an underwriter for Chubb Insurance in Tokyo.

Though she will be based at the New York branch of Phillips, Nagasawa will work toward developing the auction house’s presence in Asia. She will manage consignments and global sales of 20th-century and contemporary art, and she will be responsible for growing its client base for modern art as well as promoting the auction house’s brand internationally.

Robert Manley and Jean-Paul Engelen, the worldwide co-heads of 20th-century and contemporary art at Phillips, said in a statement, “With her significant experience and passion for engaging with collectors, Takako is a strategic addition to our team as we continue to build our market share in the modern category and in Asia.”
