Patrick Mahomes, who is also known as Patrick Lavon Mahomes, Sr. or Pat Mahomes, is a former American professional baseball player. He actively played from 1988 to 2009.
Born on August 9, 1970, Mahomes is the son of Johnny and Cindy Mahomes. During his childhood, Mahomes’s mother suffered injuries from a car accident that confined her to a wheelchair.
He attended Lindale High School in Lindale, Texas, where he participated in multiple sports. After graduating from high school in 1988, Mahomes began his professional baseball journey as a sixth-round draft pick. He started his career as a pitcher for the Elizabethton Twins, a rookie-level affiliate of the Minnesota Twins based in Elizabethton, Tennessee, in the Appalachian League. He also had a brief stint with the Portland Beavers, another team in Minor League Baseball.
In 1992, Mahomes made his debut in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Minnesota Twins, having successfully made the team during spring training. He remained with the Twins until 1996 when the team released him. Mahomes then joined the Boston Red Sox as a free agent and played for them for a single season until his release in 1997. Subsequently, he played for the Yokohama BayStars (also known as Yokohama DeNA BayStars), a Japanese baseball team in the Nippon Professional Baseball League, from 1997 to 1998.

The Mets secured a playoff spot that season as a wild card team and emerged victorious in the National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves. However, they faced defeat in the World Series against the New York Yankees.
In 2000, Mahomes participated in 53 games, resulting in a 5-3 record. The Mets once again reached the World Series but were unable to secure a victory against the New York Yankees.
Following his tenure with the Mets, Mahomes signed with the Texas Rangers in 2001, where he played in 56 games. He became a free agent after the 2001 season and subsequently joined the Chicago Cubs. However, he only made 16 appearances during the 2002 MLB season. After the season concluded, Mahomes became a free agent once again. In January 2003, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and made nine appearances during the 2003 MLB season, marking the final season of his career in MLB.
From 2004 to 2009, Patrick Mahomes, Sr. played for various minor league teams, including the Edmonton Trappers, Albuquerque Isotopes, Nashville Sounds, Las Vegas 51s, Long Island Ducks, Syracuse Chiefs (renamed the Syracuse Mets), Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, and Sioux Falls Canaries.
