Old Dirty Bastard’s son Young Dirty Bastard performs with Wu-Tang Clan on GMA for the 25th anniversary of ’36 Chambers’

Wu-Tang Clan was for the children this morning on ABC’s Good Morning America. Hip hop heads are probably not used to seeing the Staten Island based crew performing first thing in the morning, but that’s exactly what happened today on what has been dubbed Wu-Tang Clan Day.

GMA host Michael Strahan showed off the official Wu-Tang Day proclamation which was created in honor of the 25th anniversary of their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)The group then launched into a spirited performance of “Protect Ya Neck” with Young Dirty Bastard taking over a verse for his late father Old Dirty Bastard. The GMA crowd, decked out in complimentary Wu gear, rapped and clapped along with the classic track.

The previous evening, RZA, Raekwon, and Masta Killa performed a portion of “C.R.E.A.M.” and sat down for a Q and A with a Noisey senior editor after a screening of a new documentary called For The Children: 25 Years of Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)The film features the Wu-Tang Clan sharing memorable moments about the creation of their classic debut album. RZA recalled how excited they were when they first heard one of their songs on the radio. He said Raekwon (who is about 5’5) jump up so high, he practically hit the ceiling. The short documentary also includes commentary from newer rap stars like A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg about how Wu-Tang has impacted their personal and professional lives.

The Brooklyn screening was hosted by Certified Classics, the company behind the numerous offerings surrounding the 25th anniversary of the album. The special merchandise includes the re-release of the vinyl version of the album, but in the shape of the classic Wu-Tang logo.
