New Jersey police shut down a party on the evening of Sunday, August 9, for violating guidelines set in place to prevent large indoor gatherings.
This illegal jam session was held in Howell, NJ, and promoted on Instagram as a pop-up party entitled the “Real Big Drip 5.”

According to reports, the COVID-19 shindig attracted around 300 people.
Most of the attendees were compliant with police orders to leave the party. However, a few were angry because the host charged admission.
According to the New York Post, the flyer promoting the party read “Advance Tixs… Females $30.00 Male $40.00.”
Authorities in Howell requested help from several other counties to disperse party-goers. The host was arrested, and despite attendees being upset, they left without incident, reported the Howell Township Police Department.
This party comes less than 2 weeks after hundreds of people attended a gathering under the Kosciuszko Bridge in Brooklyn, NY toward the beginning of August, theGrio.com reported.

New Jersey currently has 185,031 reported COVID-19 cases and over 14,000 deaths due to this virus. Gov. Murphy signed an executive order in early July to help curb the spread of this virus.
“As I’ve said before, we know this virus is a lot less-lethal outdoors than indoors, but that does not mean it is not lethal,” said Gov. Murphy when signing the order.
