Weeks after her demise, the family finally was laid Rivera to rest in a private service.

Her husband, Ryan Dorsey, wrote on Instagram, “To everyone that reached out and I haven’t had a chance to or just didn’t get back to you… thank you all for the overwhelming love and support you’ve sent our way.”

“Be kind to yourself, be kind to others,” he continues. “Forgive… forget… don’t hold grudges… if you have nothing nice to say maybe try not to say anything.”

“There’s peace in silence. Time on earth is precious and you just never know… you never know what could happen. Hold your loved ones close, and cherish the times you have with those you care about,” Dorsey shared via social media.

On July 13, five days after her boat rental expired, the body of the Glee star was found in Lake Piru.

She was reported missing July 8, after renting a pontoon boat to go out on the water with her son.  Rivera’s last moments were spent swimming in the lake with her 4-year-old son, Josey.

“We know from speaking with her son, that he and Naya swam in the lake together at some point during their journey,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub at a news conference. “It was during that time that her son described being helped into the boat by Naya, who boosted him onto the deck from behind. He told investigators that he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water.”

“The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored, and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself,” he continued.
