COURTESY MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

Amanda Hicks, formerly the executive director of communications at the Art Institute of Chicago, has joined the Museum of Modern Art in New York as director of communications and public affairs.

“It’s an honor to join MoMA and a privilege to help tell the stories of extraordinary art and artists that inspire, provoke, and connect with millions of people inside and outside the museum,” Hicks said in a statement. “This moment at MoMA—with the visionary renovation and expansion underway—sparks new and exciting conversations about its unparalleled collection, exhibitions, and programs.”

Hicks joins MoMA with more than 15 years of experience in the arts and media. During her tenure at the Art Institute of Chicago, she implemented press campaigns to boost attendance. She also has experience working in the U.S. Department of State’s foreign service as a public diplomacy officer.
