Paramount Pictures has picked Michael B. Jordan to star in a new Tom Clancy film series, according to Variety. The movie studio says that Jordan will play John Clark, a regular next to Jack Ryan in Clancy’s novels, and that it is looking to bring the author’s Rainbow Six and Without Remorse to the big screen.

Willem Dafoe appeared as Clark alongside Harrison Ford’s Ryan in 1994’s “Clear and Present Danger,” and Liev Schreiber portrayed Clark in 2002’s “The Sum of All Fears.” Clark is a former Navy SEAL and the leader of a counterterrorism unit called Rainbow Six.

Jordan appeared most recently as the lead in a film adaptation of “Fahrenheit 451,” which fell flat with critics. But he wowed us as arguably the most dynamic Marvel villain to date, Erik Killmonger in 2017’s “Black Panther.”

Jordan will appear in “Creed 2” this November, a sequel to his 2015 breakout film.
