Screenwriter and producer Lena Waithe has collaborated with digital media company ATTN: for an original series titled Girls Room, for Dove’s Self-Esteem Project Deadline reports.

“I’ve admired Dove and its mission to educate young women through their Self-Esteem Project for a long time,” said Waithe. “Crafting a story that’s purposeful and relevant to our shared values was exciting to me on a deeply personal level. The anthology-style series is written by the Emmy award winning writer, actress and content creator, and will “explore the pain and power of female adolescence as told through the eyes of an inter-connected group of girls,” according to the official description.

“ATTN: is thrilled to be working with Lena, Dove and Unilever Entertainment to inspire the next generation of girls to be more confident,” said ATTN:’s Taryn Crouthers.

Right now, production for Girls Room is underway and it is slated to premiere in 2020.

Meanwhile, Waithe’s got quite a few projects on her plate.

The critically acclaimed series, The Chi, created by Waithe and is produced by Common is returning to Showtime for a third season.

In addition to producing series for Showtime and BET, she plans to take her talents in front of the camera for a role on HBO’s Westworld.

She also recently joined forces with Mercedes Benz and other gifted storytellers to go on a journey and learn a new skill set that she’s always wanted to master.

The How To is a part of Mercedes-Benz’s #MBCollective fashion story which launched in 2017 to help create a connection between creatives and different types of industries. The purpose of How To is to get a creative such as Waithe to spend a day learning a new skill outside of their comfort zone in an effort to dispel stereotypes.
