Katerina Stathopoulou will join the Public Art Fund, the New York-based non-profit, as assistant curator on May 7. Most recently, Stathopoulou worked as assistant curator in the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art. She has also held curatorial positions at the International Center of Photography in New York and the Averoff Museum in Greece.
Some of her curatorial credits include “Being Modern: MoMA in Paris” (2017) and “Walid Raad” (2015) at MoMA, and “The Rise and Fall of Apartheid: Photography and the Bureaucracy of Everyday Life” (2012) at the ICP.
Nicholas Baume, director and chief curator of Public Art Fund, said in a statement, “Her international perspective, wide-ranging experience, and deep connections with artists make her a perfect match for our program. We look forward to working with Katerina to develop and present exhibitions that transform the urban environment and engage diverse audiences through powerful works of public art.”
This summer, Public Art Fund will exhibit work by Tauba Auerbach, Erwin Wurm, B. Wurtz, and Anselm Kiefer in various locations around New York.
