Kanye West has had a pretty…strange year. As we embark towards the end of 2018, most of the stories about the rapper have centered around his erratic behavior and bizarre on-and-off love affair with Donald Trump.

However, we have a rare moment of awesome coming from the land of Ye. West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, looked out for not only themselves, but also their neighbors by calling in a team of private firefighters as California’s devastating Woolsey wildfire was bearing down on their homes.

According to TMZ, as the fire started to creep up on their Hidden Hills mansion last Friday after the mandatory evacuation of the area was called, the Wests hired a private team to battle the flames on their property.

The team was armed with hoses and dug ditches to create a fire break. Their home sits at the end of a cul-de-sac and borders a field, which meant that if the flames reached their home, it would start a domino effect that could take out the whole neighborhood.

The private firefighters successfully saved the $60 million house along with countless others in the area. Kardashian West posted video of the fires as she flew into Los Angeles on Thursday and the family stayed at a nearby hotel during the evacuations.

The only question left is: How rich do you have to be to afford private firefighters?

The wildfires have forced hundreds of thousands of residents to evacuate, and a number of celebrities were not as lucky as Kim and Kanye.

Neil Young, Robin Thicke, Gerard Butler and Miley Cyrus have all lost their homes in the fire which has been raging north of Los Angeles.

Cyrus tweeted that she was “completely devastated” by the fires affecting her community.

“I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now. My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong. I am grateful for all I have left. Sending so much love and gratitude to the firefighters and L.A. County Sheriff’s department!”
