It appears 1970s sitcom The Jeffersons will be the latest classic series to grace our screens once again; Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes have signed up to play iconic characters George and Louise “Weezy” Jefferson in the upcoming ABC special live event presentation of the series, Deadline reports.

The two stand-ups will have a hard time living up to Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford, who hilariously portrayed the couple who moved from Queens “on up to the east side” with their son, Lionel. They will join Will Ferrell as George and Louise’s friend Tom Willis and Justina Machado as Jefferson housekeeper Florence Johnston. The roles of Helen Willis, Lionel Jefferson, Jenny Willis and Mother Jefferson have yet to be cast.

The Jeffersons was a spin-off of show creator Norman Lear’s controversial All in the Family, which will also receive an update.
Woody Harrelson will play Archie Bunker and Marisa Tomei will play his wife, Edith, in the re-creation.

Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All In The Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’ will air Wednesday, May 22, 8-9:30 p.m. ET.
