On Saturday May 11 graduates and their families from the nation’s capital’s HBCU’s, Howard University and University of the District of Columbia (UDC), celebrated scholastic achievement and completion with commencement exercises. Howard’s 151st commencement was held on the main yard.  The Walter E. Washington Convention Center housed the UDC commencement. Howard’s keynote speaker was alum and former mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) served as the keynote speaker for UDC’s commencement.
