In November 2017, Yoko Ono sold her Jean-Michel Basquiat painting Cabra, painted in 1981–82, at Sotheby’s in New York. It went for $11 million, and the buyer was not identified. The painting is now on view at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, with a wall label indicating that it belongs to the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Ono donated a portion of the proceeds from the sale to the Part of the Spirit Foundations, founded by Ono and John Lennon. The Louvre Abu Dhabi just celebrated its one-year anniversary. It has reportedly seen over a million visitors since it opened. Cabra went on view at the Louvre Abu Dhabi at the end of October.
