Could Cardi B be returning to television for a reboot of The Nanny?

Apparently the Bronx rapper has caught the eye of Fran Drescher who has publicly expressed interest in casting her as the daughter of Fran Fine, the character she made famous in the popular 90’s hit sitcom.

In late September Cardi showed up to Milan’s Fashion Week dressed in a leopard outfit that she said was an ode to Drescher and her iconic character’s wacky fashion choices.

In a recent interview with Extra, Drescher says that tribute inspired her, and now she’s in talks with Cardi’s camp about the idea of turning their similarities into a reboot that could be television gold.

“She started it because she kind of paid homage to me, putting our pictures side by side when she was wearing animal print and it was me in animal from ‘The Nanny’ and that just went viral,” Drescher said. “That got my creative juices going.”

“[I’m] talking to her representation,” she explained. “It’s really getting me excited. It’s fresh and it could be super fun.”

Drescher also noted that fans of the show have often pointed out how similar Cardi’s voice is to Fran Fine’s signature high-pitched tone with the heavy New York City accent, saying that just further illustrates how “great” she would be playing her daughter.

“She’s got a funny voice, too,” she added. “What kind of a great mother/daughter would we be? Amazing, I think,” Drescher told Extra.

The Nanny was a huge success for CBS from 1993 to 1999 and in another interview with PeopleTV’s “Chatter” earlier this month, Drescher seemed excited about the prospect of reviving it with co-creator and ex-husband Peter Marc Jacob.

“I’m totally down with doing it,” she beamed. “I don’t know what is going on with some of these networks out there because they do not seem to be hip to the fact that there’s an obsession amongst millennials for the show and moi!”

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Cardi was all smiles and dressed in blue as she appeared on the third episode of talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel’Back To Brooklyn themed show. During the sit down, she discussed how busy her life has become the last year, especially after giving birth to her daughter Kulture.

When Kimmel asked if giving birth was easier or harder than she expected, Cardi responded, “It was totally harder, she broke my vagina. Why does nobody tell you about those things? Nobody told me they were going to stitch my vagina. People just be like, ‘Oh, you know, when you give birth, it’s gonna hurt,’ but nobody tells you.”

Despite the jarring and somewhat explicit realities of childbirth, the 26-year-old loves motherhood, wants to have three or four kids, and even wishes she’d done it sooner: “It’s the best. It’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I should have had you when I was a teenager.’ This is what I was missing my whole life? I love you!”
