ESPN Radio to Serve as National Radio Home of the Mid-Summer Classic for 21st Time
ESPN is bringing its fastball to Nationals Park in Washington D.C. for its cross-platform coverage of the 2018 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17. The Mid-Summer Classic culminates ESPN’s cross-platform coverage of the 2018 MLB All-Star event, which will also include the exclusive telecasts of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 16, at 8 p.m. ET. For the 21st consecutive time, ESPN Radio will serve as the national radio broadcast home for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17, at 8 p.m. The audio from the event will also stream via the ESPN App. ESPN Radio’s Sunday Night Baseball team Jon “Boog” Sciambi and analyst Chris Singleton will describe the action with reporters Buster Olney and Tim Kurkjian, plus additional commentary from on-site studio host Marc Kestecher. The same team will also preview the event with ESPN Radio’s Baseball Tonight pre-game show.
ESPN will begin its All-Star Game coverage on Tuesday with live SportsCenter AM updates from Pedro Gomez. At 4 p.m., ESPN airs a 90-minute edition of Baseball Tonight: Around the Cage, capturing the scene from batting practice with host Karl Ravech, analysts Mark Teixeira, David Ross, Eduardo Perez and Tim Kurkjian. Ravech, Teixeira and Ross will return for the Baseball Tonight 2018 All-Star Game Preview Show from 7-7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
From 5:30-6 p.m. on ESPN, Pardon the Interruption will conclude its back-to-back days of on-site shows from Nationals Park. At 6 p.m. on ESPN, Keith Olbermann and Karl Ravech will return for their second day together hosting SportsCenter on site. The duo will be joined by special guests and ESPN MLB commentators. After the MLB All-Star Game, SportsCenter will air from Nationals Park on ESPN with host Karl Ravech and analysts Mark Teixeira, David Ross and Eduardo Perez and Tim Kurkjian.
The 2018 MLB All-Star Game coverage will also reach more than 67 million households on ESPN platforms in more than 70 countries outside the U.S., including Brazil, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific-Rim, sub-Saharan Africa, the UK and Ireland. In addition, in collaboration with Tencent, ESPN content and coverage for the All Star Game and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby will reach millions of fans on Tencent digital platforms in China.
2018 MLB Legends & Celebrity All-Star Game
On Monday, July 16, ESPN will televise the 2018 MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game immediately following the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. Adnan Virk will provide commentary for the star-studded event, alongside analyst Eduardo Perez.
