McEnroe, Navratilova & Venus Williams to “Test” the Conditions under the New Roof

ESPNEWS will televise the Wimbledon No. 1 Court Celebration from the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London on Sunday, May 19, at 9 a.m. ET.

ESPN analyst and three-time Wimbledon champion John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova – who counts nine Wimbledon titles among her 18 Major trophies – will lead the group who will test the conditions playing under the facility’s brand new roof.  In addition, Goran Ivanišević, a four-time Wimbledon finalist and the 2001 champion, will take part.  Current players joining include five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams and Britain’s Jamie Murray, owner of six Major titles in doubles including two in Mixed doubles at Wimbledon (2007, 2017).

The event also includes a musical component with Paloma Faith will headlining.  She will be joined by opera singer Joseph Calleja, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Grange Park Opera chorus.

The roof will make its official debut – should it rain – during the upcoming Wimbledon tournament.  It joins the Centre Court roof to allow for continued play during inclement weather.  ESPN will have its usual first-ball-to-last ball exclusive coverage beginning Monday, July 1.  ESPN, ESPN+ and the ESPN App will combine to show every match.
