  • First-Ever Title Match for Soccer Champions of North America

ESPN2 will present the inaugural Campeones Cup, a matchup between the champions of Major League Soccer, Toronto FC, and Mexico’s Liga MX, Tigres UANL, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 8:30 p.m. ET from BMO Field in Toronto. ESPN’s lead MLS commentator team – play-by-play commentator Adrian Healey, analyst Taylor Twellman and sideline reporter Sebastian Salazar – will call the match. Max Bretos and analysts Alejandro Moreno and Herculez Gomez, who played for both teams, will host studio segments from BMO Field. The 2018 Campeones Cup will also be streamed live on the ESPN App.

Toronto FC is led by Italian National Team player Sebastian Giovinco and longtime U.S. soccer stars Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley. Tigres UANL features Liga MX leading scorer Andre-Pierre Gignac (France), Mexican National Team star Hugo Ayala and Chilean National Team player Eduardo Vargas.

The inaugural Campeones Cup is a rematch of the 2017-18 CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal where Toronto FC advanced on away goals tiebreaker following a 2-1 home victory in March 7, and a 2-3 loss away on March 13 at Tigres’ Estadio Universitario in Mexico City.

The 2018 Campeones Cup is the inaugural edition of an event that will become an annual, one-match Cup competition to decide the best soccer club in North America. ESPN will be the exclusive English-language television home of the series in the United States through 2022. The matches will air live on ESPN or ESPN2 each year.
