ESPN Deportes will televise the National Football League’s regular-season MNF game in Mexico City on Nov. 18 – Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers from Estadio Azteca. Multiple ESPN Deportes studio shows will be live from Mexico City on Nov. 17-19 as part of the company’s extensive coverage, both in the United States and on ESPN networks in Spanish-speaking Latin America.

The Chiefs-Chargers matchup will be the 11th regular-season NFL game to be held on Mexican territory, and one of five regular season games the league has played internationally this year. The game will mark the first time in 23 years (since 1996) that the Kansas City Chiefs play in Mexico.

Spanish-language coverage kicks off Sunday, Nov. 17 with a special edition of SportsCenter Fin de Semana (SC Weekend) at 1 p.m. ET., featuring reports from Estadio Azteca and around Mexico City. Live coverage continues on Monday, Nov. 18 starting at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN AM. The game will be preceded by a special NFL Esta Noche and a post-game SportsCenter special produced from Estadio Azteca with live reports from outside the stadium.

ESPN Deportes highlights:

  • More than 12 hours of continuous programming on game day, live from Estadio Azteca starting at 10 a.m. ET with ESPN AM. Immediately after the game there will be a special post-game edition of SportsCenter, Ahora o Nunca and Now or Never
  • More than 20 on-air personalities will be reporting: Eduardo Varela, Pablo Viruega, John Sutcliffe and Rebeca Landa will be calling the game, and Carlos Nava will lead the news and information coverage. Also, Hérculez Gomez and Mauricio Pedroza from Ahora o Nunca and Rich Davis and Steve Covino from Now or Never will be reporting from site
  • NFL Esta Noche will be led by ESPN’s Ciro Procuna, Varela and Viruega, alongside Pedroza, Nava, and Landa reporting from various locations throughout Mexico City
  • The NFL Live team includes former NFL players Raúl Allegre and Ramiro Pruneda who will serve as analysts, alongside Sergio Dipp, with reports from Landa, Nava, Pedroza, Fernando Tirado and Sutcliffe
  • Additionally, Cristina Alexander, Eitan Benezra, Adalberto Franco, Javier Trejo Garay, Leon Lecanda, José Mondragón, Álvaro Morales, Heriberto Murrieta and Miguel Pasquel will be the commentators on site interacting with fans
  • As part of its coverage, ESPN Deportes will look to capture the passion Mexican fans have for the sport, via a series of stories that will air across shows leading up to Monday. Highlights include:
    • When the LA Chargers take the field at Estadio Azteca for Week 11’s MNF game, it’ll be a dream come true for Defensive Back Michael Davis. Growing up, Davis would visit his mother’s family in Mexico every year, playing soccer and dreaming of representing El Tri at Azteca.
    • ESPN’s John Sutcliffe and Ramiro Pruneda pay a visit to “Los Corsarios,” an amateur football team located in one of the most vulnerable and forgotten areas of the city, right in the heart of Ciudad Neza. As part of the initiative, Los Corsarios were part of a football clinic, received new uniforms and equipment, and will be hosted at the game on Monday night. The feature will air on ESPN Deportes Sunday, Nov. 17.

ESPN Deportes Digital will feature previews, videos, behind-the-scene analysis, highlights, player rankings, recap and post-game reactions, as well as field reporting by Rafael Zamorano, Luis Miguel Vasavilbaso, Itzel Bandín and Ivis Aburto. The coverage will also feature a Facebook Live session featuring Bandín from site.

On ESPN Deportes social media platforms, the coverage will include the NFL preview series “5 Razones” on @espndeportes Instagram IGTV and the first 30-minute Twitter Live Pre-Game show on @ESPNDeportes hosted by ESPN commentator Mauricio Pedroza, and former NFL player Rolando Cantu on Monday, Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. ET. Feature stories will include a piece on the Estadio Azteca history, Chiefs and Chargers fans’ excitement leading up to a Monday Night Football game and a story on defensive back Michael Davis’s road to the NFL.

ESPN Deportes televisará el juego de MNF de la serie regular de la National Football League en la Ciudad de México el 18 de noviembre entre los Kansas City Chiefs y Los Angeles Chargers desde el Estadio Azteca. Varios programas de los estudios de ESPN Deportes transmitirán en vivo desde la Ciudad de México del 17 al 19 de noviembre como parte de la amplia cobertura, tanto en Estados Unidos como en las cadenas de ESPN en las regiones hispanohablantes de Latinoamérica.
