ESPN today announced it has reached a multi-year extension with senior national NBA writer Baxter Holmes. The accomplished journalist will continue to write NBA feature stories for ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine.

As part of his role, Holmes, who is based in Los Angeles, will closely document LeBron James’ tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, and all of the top teams, players and storylines from around the league. Additionally, his ESPN.com NBA “Schedule Alert” project, which examines what games NBA teams are at risk of losing due to fatigue, returns Oct. 30.

In 2017, Holmes garnered national acclaim for his award-winning ESPN The Magazine feature “The NBA’s Secret Addiction.” The piece won the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award For Excellence in the “Feature Reporting” category. The story was also included in “The Best American Food Writing of 2018” book.

Holmes previously served as ESPN.com’s Lakers beat reporter from 2014-2017. Prior to joining ESPN, Holmes covered the Celtics for The Boston Globe and was a sports reporter for the Los Angeles Times.  He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
