Entertainment anchor Sam Rubin mistakes Samuel L. Jackson for Laurence Fishburne – TheGrio

During a live TV segment Monday, entertainment anchor Sam Rubin blushed from embarrassment after mistaking actor Samuel L. Jackson for Laurence Fishburne.

Jackson appeared on KTLA Morning News to promote his new movie RoboCop. Instead, things took a wrong turn when Rubin asked him “Did you get a lot of reaction for that Super Bowl commercial?”

Jackson was not featured in a Super Bowl ad this year, though he did appear in trailer for his new film Captain America.  However, the actor quickly realized that he was confused for Fishburne, who depicted Morpheus from The Matrix movie triology in a commercial for the car maker Kia.

Jackson was displeased.

“What Super Bowl commercial?” he said. “See, you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter, I’m not Laurence Fishburne!” he admonished, while shaking his finger at the camera.

Rubin immediately apologized and even gave himself a slap on the face saying: “My mistake, my mistake, I apologize.”

The anchor then tried to quickly change the talking point to focus on Jackson’s new film, however the actor refused to drop the topic.

“Oh hell, no! Really, really?” Jackson said, even cracking a few smiles and laughs during his rant. “We don’t all look alike!” he added.

The two seemed to laugh it off, however, Rubin also addressed the mix-up and issued another apology in a separate segment following Jackson’s appearance:

“I do know who Samuel Jackson is,” he said. “Of course a Captain America ad had also run during the Super Bowl but I immediately felt so dumb that I didn’t bring that up and he gave me the shellacking that was well-deserved.”
