DMX is now getting back to work since he was released from prison in January. The veteran emcee is slated to star in the new movie Chronicle of a Serial Killer, The Blast reported Monday.

Directed by Steve Stanulis, X will be joined by Tara Reid, Jake Busey and Michael Madsen.

Stanulis confirmed in a statement to the media outlet the rapper’s addition to the cast. “Casting DMX as Detective White to me is a perfect fit. As a director, I always like going against the grain a bit,” he told The Blast. “Also being familiar with his work over the years I have no doubt he is going bring a different dynamic to the role. It will be fun working with him and the rest of the cast on this one!”

According to HotNewHipHop, the film follows Henry Brolin (Brendan Sexton), who hunts women and kills them because he believes they will turn out like his mother. The rapper will play one of the detectives responsible for investigating the murders.

The movie will begin filming in June. An official release date has not been confirmed.
