ABC’s Saturday Night Football showdown featuring the upset of No. 2 Ohio State at Purdue (7:30 p.m. ET) delivered a 4.2 overnight rating, ranking as the top college football game of the day and marking the seventh straight Saturday that the highest-rated primetime game aired on ESPN/ABC. The matchup is the third-highest-rated college football game on ESPN/ABC this season and is up year-over-year from last year’s presentation of Michigan-Penn State in the same window.

The game peaked at a 5.2 (11-11:15 p.m.) rating in the fourth quarter, with a flurry of touchdowns giving the Boilermakers the 49-20 victory at home in front of a raucous crowd and a special guest of honor in Tyler Trent.

Primetime Windows See Growth Across ESPN Networks
In addition to ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 also recorded increases year-over-year in primetime. The SEC West matchup between Mississippi State and LSU (7-10:15 p.m., ESPN) rated a 1.7 overnight, a 70% increase from LSU-Ole Miss from a year ago. ESPN2 saw a 50% increase in its primetime window, with UCF-East Carolina (7:15-10:30 p.m.) eclipsing USF-Tulane from 2017.

Historic College GameDay Built by The Home Depot Highlights Impressive Party on the Palouse
College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, set in Pullman, Wash. for the first visit to Washington State, averaged a 1.4 across ESPN and ESPNU. The show, which was a homecoming of sorts for Ol’ Crimson, was up +17% from 2017’s Week 8 show surrounding Michigan-Penn State.
