A self-taught American artist, Jim Houser works across installation, painting, sculpture and collage. Exploring words and the semantics of them, Houser creates the intricate relationships of the elements in his works through his artistic language that emerges.
In his collages, the artist expresses his most private thoughts and feelings. The piece Salt Water from 2014 is comprised of his signature icons and pictures, a mix of geometric shapes, stylized figures and self-made typography. When combined, these elements reveal an extraordinary complexity and interconnectivity, becoming a whole.
