Colin Kaepernick will be inducted into the hall of fame of Pitman High School, his alma mater, in Turlock, California. The school made the announcement on Wednesday, according to Sports Illustrated.

Kaepernick was an All-Star player of baseball, basketball and football at Pitman High. He graduated in 2006 and is among eight others to be honored as part of the school’s inaugural Hall of Fame class.

The former NFL quarterback’s protest during the national anthem caused a rift in his hometown supporters. Dave Wells, the school’s A.D.,  addressed the controversy saying, “Colin was chosen, like all the others, for their contribution to the history of athletes here at Pitman.”

Kaepernick will be honored on Nov. 3.
