The China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Ghana has held its maiden Cooking Art Contest sponsored by Huawei Technologies (GH) S.A Ltd.

The contest saw the elaborate display of various Chinese dishes cooked by selected chefs from fourteen Chinese companies, including Huawei Technologies, Sinopec, China GEO-Engineering Co. Ltd and others.

Mr. Gao Wenzhi, Chinese Economic & Commercial Counselor to Ghana, Mr. Feng Nian, President of China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, Mr. Xu Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Technologies (GH) S.A. Ltd and 5 other vice presidents of the chamber served as judges for the contest.

The judges considered the contestants’ overall cooking impressions, and whether the food was well prepared, cooked properly and tasted good.

They also considered the uniqueness of the various flavors to determine the winner of the cooking contest. While many chefs could prepare delicious dishes and sauces, the judges looked at talents and the ability to combine flavors in an original way.

At the end of the cooking contest, Mr. Wang Xining from Huawei was crowned the winner and awarded with Huawei Ascend P7 smartphone.

The second and third winners were Mr. Zhang Zhongdong from China GEO-Engnieering Co. Ltd and Mr. Yang Shenhong from China Gezhouba Group Co. both awarded with Huawei Mediapad 10.

Mr. Liu Yaxing from The Economic & Commercial Counselor’s office of the Chinese Embassy in Ghana was crowned forth, whiles Mr. Changjin from Sinopec and Mr. Zhou Xinhua from China State Hualong Ghana Co; became fifth and sixth respectively.

The cooking contest is an avenue to publicize the historic and splendid Chinese food culture and at the same time promote the mutual cultural exchange between China and Ghana.

Two female Ghanaian cooks also took part in the contest and were awarded for their excellence performances.
