The hits just keep coming from fired Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, who is on a book tour.
Nearly a week after the release of her White House tell-all book Unhinged, Manigault Newman says that the staff of President Donald Trump rejects Black job candidates and trots out the few Black staffers that do exist as “window dressing,” writes the New York Daily News.
Manigault Newman made the comments Sunday on MSNBC’s Politics Nation with Al Sharpton. Since her firing by Chief of Staff John Kelly in December, the most senior Black aide in the White House is Ja’Ron Smith, special assistant to the president for domestic policy. Manigault Newman’s Sunday comments cap a week of revelations she’s trickled out about life in the White House, including a tape of her firing and claims about a tape of Trump using the N-word when he was star of the reality show The Apprentice.
Omarosa: President Trump “could care less” about the African-American community https://t.co/ovZnxsfKVM

Manigault Newman has had an intractable relationship with the Black community, which only worsened after she joined the Trump White House. The administration has ties to avowed white supremacists. But her revelations in the last week about life at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C., have caught the ears of some of those who’d turned away from her.

“It’s much worse than people even realize,” Manigault Newman said of the Trump admnistration. “There are 30 assistants to the president right now and there are none representing the African-American community. In fact, when we submitted [Black] candidates they were rejected over and over again. And I will tell you that they haven’t even made an attempt to replace anyone to do the African-American outreach.”
She continued, “They just kind of detailed a guy over for just three months, I think, to do a little window dressing,” and said, “There really is no real commitment to diversity in the White House and he’s unapologetic about it because he’s completely contradicted the commitment [to Black people] he made during the campaign.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request by the New York Daily News for comment. The president also did not tweet about Manigault Newman’s comments on Sunday, instead focusing his latest social media tirade on a piece in The New York Times.
