Art with a Heart Offering Home Art Kits for Enrichment While Social Distancing

Nonprofit inspiring community to “Innovate while we Hibernate”

BALTIMORE (Mar. 25, 2020) – Research has found that 45 minutes of creative activity a day significantly lessens stress in the body, regardless of artistic experience or talent. With this in mind, Art with a Heart, Inc. is offering innovative opportunities for creativity while we are quarantined and sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HeART Kits are available for online purchase from the non-profit’s HeARTwares social enterprise retail store. Great for all ages (supervision and guidance needed for ages 10 and younger), the kits include a lesson plan and the materials needed to complete the following projects: Meditation Mandala Stones, Mosaic Penguin Trivets, Watercolor Resist Paintings and Ceramic Platters.

Completion will take anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple hours depending on the project. Additional kits will be available soon including a Funky Flamingo, Mother’s Day Flower Mosaic and Decoupage Votives.

“While we must postpone our in-person art classes due to social distancing, we still want to bring the joys and benefits of visual art into the community. During this time of unprecedented challenges, Art with a Heart is intent on providing creative and convenient opportunities for children and adults to make visual art,” said Founder/Executive Director Randi Pupkin.

The HeART Kits range in price from $12 to $50 with all proceeds being used to support Art with a Heart, its staff, teachers and assistants. They can be purchased at https://shop.artwithaheart.net with options for shipping or curbside pickup from Art with a Heart (3000 Falls Road, Mill No.1 Baltimore, MD 21211).

Founded in 2000, Art with a Heart brings interactive visual arts classes into schools, community centers, group homes, shelters, permanent housing facilities, hospitals, and senior housing facilities. In the last year, the organization provided 12,000+ visual art classes, engaged 4,000+ volunteers, installed 39 public art pieces (for a total of 300 to date), provided 110 students with workforce training and continued to enhance the civic participation of students through its Art of Leadership program.
