The Art Gallery of Ontario has tapped Heidi Reitmaier to be its new deputy director and chief of public programming and learning. Reitmaier will join the AGO in 2019, following her time as the executive director and CEO of the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto.

Stephan Jost, director and CEO of the AGO, said in a release, “Heidi is an innovative and bold leader who strongly believes that audiences are at the center of any art museum’s success.”

While at MOCA Toronto, Reitmaier oversaw the renovation of the museum, which reopened this past September in a new 55,000-square-foot space.

Reitmaier, a Toronto native, said in a statement to press, “I believe that museums are vital in our current times, and it is essential that they remain
responsive and relevant to contemporary audiences. Connecting all visitors with extraordinary art and ideas in Toronto, a city of great diversity, is truly a unique opportunity.”
