New York’s Andrew Kreps Gallery has added artist He Xiangyu to its roster, and will present the Beijing- and Berlin-based artist’s first solo show in the United States in 2020. Xiangyu, who was born and raised in China, uses his childhood in his rapidly urbanizing home country as inspiration for projects that bring together sculptures, drawings, installations, and videos, and address the rampant commercialism of the contemporary art.

Such projects are currently on view at the MAK Museum in Vienna and in New Zealand at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. Xiangyu’s work has also appeared in editions of the Shanghai Biennale, the Biennale de Lyon, and the Yinchuan Biennale.

In an email, Andrew Kreps told ARTnews, “We’re excited to be working with He Xiangyu, and to introduce his work to audiences in the United States.”
