Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.

Today’s show: Akira Ikezoe’s solo show “A veces hay que bajar para poder subir” (“Sometimes you have to go down to go up”) is on view at Proyectos Ultravioleta in Guatemala City. The presentation includes new oil paintings from the New York–based artist’s “Coconut Heads” series, which feature naked characters (with coconuts for heads) that perform menial tasks of various kinds. It is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Guatemala.
