Adam Levine has been appointed director and CEO of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida. Levine, who will start in his new position in January of next year, joins the institution following his time at the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio, where he has served as deputy director, and a search for his replacement will commence before he departs the TMA in early December.
Brian Kennedy, the Toledo Museum of Art’s director, said in a statement, “Adam has had a significant and wide-ranging impact on the Toledo Museum of Art while at the same time developing as an impressive leader. His presence will indeed be missed but we look forward to the no doubt significant impact he will have at the Cummer Museum and in the entire Jacksonville community.”
Before his post at the Toledo Museum of Art, Levine worked as collections management assistant in the Greek and Roman art department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Of his new position, he said, “The experiences I have had at TMA, and the people I have been able to work with at the museum and throughout the Toledo area have prepared me for this exciting opportunity.”
