In yet another case of injustice, it was ruled that none of the officers involved with the death of Freddie Gray will be charged with murder. 4. Mothers of the Movement Give Powerful Speech at Democratic National Convention. [via TIME]

Seven mothers who lost their children to state-sanctioned violence took the stage at the DNC and gave powerful testimonies on police violence.

Lucy McBath (mother of Jordan Davis), Geneva Reed-Veal (mother of Sandra Bland), and Sybrina Fulton (mother of Trayvon Martin), all gave emotional speeches while the other mothers looked on. The mothers collectively called for an end to police brutality while also calling for the police to have better relationships with the communities they serve.

“You don’t stop being a mom when your child dies.”

-Lucy McBath, mother of Jordan Davis

The Mothers of the Movement also showed support for Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton isn’t afraid to say Black Lives Matter. She isn’t afraid to sit at a table with grieving mothers and bear the full force of our anguish. She doesn’t build walls around her heart.”

Lucy McBath, mother of Jordan Davis
